A street fair is often the most vivid memory that many travelers retain from a visit to an Asian country. The winding passages and byways in small towns, as well as in large, metropolitan cities, are filled with loud-voiced vendors selling food, commemorative souvenirs, and arts and crafts at all levels of skill and quality. The booths are surrounded by avid shoppers who engage in a continuous stream of bargaining claims and counterclaims with the vendors. The rich and lively culture of the Asian street fair will be replicated at the 20th Annual Asian Festival.

This Festival combines the ethnic character of dozens Asian cultures in a single celebration of native folklore, art, and exotic food. Entertainment for all ages will be provided in the form of music, dance, games, and unique shopping opportunities. Special presentations include Taiko drums, Folk Dancing, Fashion Shows and Martial Arts exhibitions.

An Avenue of Cultures will present detailed information on the traditions and attractions of over a dozen specific Asian cultures. Look for models posing in native dress and traditional costumes for photographic opportunities.

The Arizona Asian American Association is also offering, as supplementary events, a contest for students ?Poster Drawing. The Contest is open to students in Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. There are monetary awards for all categories. Contest winners will be announced and receive their prizes at the Festival.
