(Phoenix, Arizona) – The Color Guard of the American Legion Thomas Tang Post 50 presented the Colors at the opening of the Arizona Senate session on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Participating in the ceremonies were Rudy Yee, Frank Ong, George Ong, Eddie Yue, Post Commander Jim Ong, Jr., father of Senate Assistant Research Analyst Jeffrey Ong and Jack Yee, father of Senator Kimberly Yee. Senator Yee led the legislative assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance upon the presentation of the Colors.

Following the Presentation of the Colors, the President of the Senate, Andy Biggs, introduced the Legionnaires. As they were recognized, the Arizona Senators on the Floor of the Senate and the audience in the public gallery, rose from their seats and gave the members from the American Legion Thomas Tang Post 50 a standing ovation in appreciation of their military service to the United States of America.

The Thomas Tang Post 50 was originally chartered as American Legion Phoenix Post 50 with a membership of 44 World War II veterans in 1950. The Post was rededicated in 1996 as Thomas Tang Post 50 in honor of Judge Thomas Tang, a former United States Army veteran.
